Carlos Benaim

Carlos Benaim grew up amongst the smells of Tangiers as the son of a pharmacist who distilled plants and flowers as a hobby. The rich tapestry of childhood memories from the southern Mediterranean provides a distinctive twist to Carlos’ approach to perfume. Carlos began his career with IFF in Paris and Amsterdam, where he started his exploration of the world of flavors and fragrances. His future mentor Ernest Shiftan soon invited him to study with him in New York. In his creations, Carlos, who is also a skilled painter, interlaces the intangibility of color and emotion, balancing them with a deep understanding of the technical aspects of perfumery. Carlos is a Master Perfumer and the winner of numerous awards, including The Fragrance Foundation 2014 Perfumer of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award, The American Society of Perfumers Lifetime Achievement Award, and nine Fragrance Foundation Awards. Carlos is the creator of White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor, Jasmin Noir by Bulgari, Euphoria by Calvin Klein, Polo by Ralph Lauren, Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf and numerous other scents.
