Lula Curioca

Lula Curioca was born in Mexico but raised in Spain. In some way, her sense of smell helped to restore her forgotten relationship with her native country. She realized that focusing on the smell of her surroundings allowed her to go deep into her scented memories. This revelation led Lula to take a very humanistic and emotional approach to art and perfumery. She has spent more than a decade exploring ways to incorporate smells into objects and textiles. Her intent is to propose new, meaningful ways to relate with what surrounds us on a deeper level through our sense of smell; thus, building a stronger relationship with ourselves.

In addition to creating memorable signature scents for brands and commercial projects, Lula devotes time each year to work on collaborative projects with artists from different disciplines, amplifying the overall artistic vision using her expertise in scent and design. She has worked creating olfactive experiences for movies, music and books.

In 2018 she established LULA CURIOCA OLFACTORY STUDIO, a Mexico City based independent studio of olfactory experimentation, artisanal perfumery and textile exploration. She studied Textile and Fashion Design in Mexico City and is a self-taught perfumer, guided by many outstanding mentors and teachers along the way and around the world.
