Meabh McCurtin was born and raised in Ireland. She studied biochemistry at the National University of Ireland in Galway and after graduation moved to the Ecole normale supérieure in Lyon. Her passion for perfumery then took her to Geneva, Amsterdam, Paris and finally New York. Meabh was mentored by the French master perfumer Dominique Ropion at IFF. She collaborated with artists to create the perfume Eau d’Amsterdam, which is based on a unique headspace analysis of elm tree leaves and branches. With the Irish company Cloon Keen she has created several fragrances, among them Róisín Dubh, which won the Fragrance Foundation's Best New Independent Fragrance award in 2019.
