Gayil Nalls

Gayil Nalls, Ph.D., is an American interdisciplinary artist based in New York City and the Hudson Valley. Her work spans art, science, and biodiversity conservation. She works across an array of media but is best known for her olfactory-based artworks. Nalls expanded the boundaries of art when her social olfactory sculpture, World Sensorium, was dropped into a crowd of two million people at New York's Times Square 2000 celebration. She is the founder of the World Sensorium Conservancy, the editor of its journal, Plantings, and an adjunct faculty member at University College Dublin. Her work is in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian Institution American Art Museum, the National Museum of the American Indian, the Brady Art Museum (George Washington University), Washington, D.C.; and the Pretoria Art Museum, South Africa.
